Event Description

Come and meet the farmers and our animals. We are a pasture farm based in Ropley, Hampshire. We have over 6000 New Zealand Romney sheep and recently branded as The Wessex Flock. Our sheep graze pasture and we grow our own fodder beet to feed our animals in the winter months. On the day you will be able to meet some of our animals. These will include:
New Zealand Romney Ewes and Lambs
Some of our Alpacas - These are guard alpacas that live with the flocks of sheep to protect them from Dogs off lead, foxes and badgers
Sheep dogs - we have 15 loyal Border Collies (our faithful friends)
Pigs - New to the farm in April are 2 friendly breeding sows
Chickens and Chicks- Farm yard chickens producing free range eggs

The day will include:
Meet and talk to the staff that look after all our fantastic animals.
Have a walking trail around the farm yard and fields
Learn lots about farming and how we manage all our animals
Shearing demonstration
Sheep dog handling demonstration
Static display of machinery - including Fodder Beet Harvester
Craft Tent
Education tent to include from Lamb fleece to Yarn

About This Farm

Maple Farm is Home of The Wessex Flock. We have a large flock of 6000 New Zealand Romney sheep that graze in Hampshire and the surrounding Counties. The flock work with our seasons and lamb outdoor in April. We sell quality breeding stock as well as lamb and luxury lamb wool products.
