Event Description

Visitors to our Open Farm Sunday event can expect to meet and hear from our dedicated team of farmers, food producers and some of our colleagues from Waitrose.

What’s on offer? We will be inviting you to hop-on to one of our farm tour trailers for a tour of the farm; there will be farming talks around soil health, farming regeneratively and farming methods and machinery. Hear about the process that produces our very own Leckford rapeseed oil, take a guided nature walk and hear about the work we’re doing to enhance biodiversity on the farm and across the estate, and there will be a chance to get a little bit creative with our craft stand. Some of our colleagues from Waitrose will also be joining us to talk about the importance of growing and producing food sustainably.

About This Farm

We have been farming sustainably since 1929, when the Estate was purchased by Spedan Lewis - the founder of the John Lewis Partnership. Spedan Lewis cared about the environment and was enthusiastic about the natural world, and he put this at the heart of farming on the Leckford Estate.

Our farm grows arable crops, has orchards of apples and pears, and two vineyards that produce grapes for Leckford sparkling wine. Our beef herd graze on our semi-natural areas of chalk grassland and water meadows.
