Event Description
Appleby Cottage CiC would like to welcome you to our 3 acre smallholding in the outskirts of Waltham Cross.
We work alongside adults with disabilities using traditional methods to keep the smallholding running. You will be able to see how we spin and weave our sheep's wool using a traditional spinning wheel. Watch our wood specialists working the pole lath and processing locally coppiced wood. Take part in a guided tour at 2pm to be introduced to our livestock.
About This Farm
We are a smallholding based in a urban area of Waltham Cross. We are tiny, at 3 acres. We work alongside adults with disabilities and as a team we:
care for our rare breed sheep, pigmy goats, hens and Shetland ponies
spin and weave our sheep's wool
practice green wood working from locally coppiced trees
grow vegetables for our consumption
grow and harvest willow for weaving
create natural habitats to encourage wildlife
manage pasture using rotational cross grazing
