Family-owned Sheffield dairy farm Our Cow Molly is evolving to become fully powered by green energy. More than that: it’s set to become a producer of clean hydrogen energy for Sheffield - whilst continuing to produce the best milk and ice-cream around.

This means that Our Cow Molly’s Open Farm event this year is a bit different: rather than focusing on dairy farming activity, we’ll be sharing how the dairy farm is evolving and focusing on its plans to capture and utilise solar and wind power and anaerobic digestion.

You'll be able to book a short energy tour and talk and learn how solar, wind and anaerobic digestion will be used to power the dairy farm for years to come. You'll also learn how surplus hydrogen energy will be sold to the community. Electicrifying.

Children will be able to sit on a static tractor - and children and adults will be able to sit on a bionmass-powered tractor!

The University of Sheffield is bringing green-energy powered toy-cars, child-friendly microscope acvitity and more.

And as well as being able to buy our icecream (of course...) we'll have refreshment stands run by local vendors.

The event is free - but we're asking for donations for our energy tours - every penny will be used for our decarbonisation plan.

We're also offering a talk at 10 am rather than a tour for those with accessibility needs.

About This Farm

Our Cow Molly is a family-owned dairy farm that has been producing award-winning ice-cream since 2007. It's just four miles from Sheffield city centre on the edge of the beautiful Peak District. It welcomes visitors for farm tours and ice-cream eating and is evolving into a clean energy producing dairy farm. On our Open Farm day you'll be able to meet the cows, eat the icecream and meet the team working with farmer Eddie Andrew on the evolution of the farm - and get involved!
