Annabel is the most enthu­si­as­tic sup­port­er of Open Farm Sun­day and is pas­sion­ate about the pos­i­tive impact of con­nect­ing soci­ety with farm­ers. Brought up in Southamp­ton, Annabel escaped to the coun­try­side and has over twen­ty years’ expe­ri­ence work­ing in a range of agri­cul­tur­al mar­ket­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tions roles. The skills, pro­fes­sion­al­ism, sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy across the sec­tor, pro­vides the inspi­ra­tion and dri­ve to sup­port farm­ers to show­case British farm­ing and to help the pub­lic under­stand and val­ue all that the indus­try deliv­ers. Its her firm belief that every farmer has a fas­ci­nat­ing sto­ry to share and its her mis­sion to sup­port them to achieve this!

Jes­si­ca is the OFS offi­cer at LEAF Head Office. Jess grew up on an organ­ic dairy farm in the South­ West of Eng­land and stud­ied agri­cul­ture at uni­ver­si­ty. It has encour­aged inter­est in regen­er­a­tive agri­cul­ture, farm edu­ca­tion pro­grammes and agroe­col­o­gy projects. Work­ing at LEAF has brought these inter­ests to light, and using these inter­ests in edu­cat­ing the future gen­er­a­tion about farm­ing and food pro­duc­tion. Sus­tain­abil­i­ty is a lead­ing fac­tor which is chang­ing the world, and with LEAF I can encour­age the next gen­er­a­tion to make con­scious choic­es when it comes to farm­ing and food. Work­ing across both the OFS and the Edu­ca­tion team, Jess is an asset to Open Farm Sunday!

Andy Guy ran his own dairy, LEAF Demon­stra­tion Farm between 2004 and 2010 and host­ed hun­dreds of vis­its dur­ing those years, par­tic­i­pat­ing in Open Farm Sun­day as a host until 2010 when he stopped farm­ing. Andy now runs an inde­pen­dent, award-win­ning sus­tain­able food and farm­ing con­sul­tan­cy busi­ness and has been heav­i­ly involved in Open Farm Sun­day since 2010, and would be hap­py to answer any ques­tions you may have!

Rebec­ca has been involved in Open Farm Sun­day since it began in 2006, help­ing at events on her fam­i­ly farm in Kin­ross. Now based on a dairy farm in Dum­fries, Rebec­ca has a wealth of knowl­edge and pas­sion for Open Farm Sun­day. Rebec­ca­’s day job is work­ing for PR com­pa­ny Jane Craigie Mar­ket­ing, who are also love Open Farm Sunday!

As a farmer’s daugh­ter, Anne has a pro­found love for British farm­ing and all that it stands for. Liv­ing and work­ing on her fam­i­ly farm in North Northum­ber­land, she is keen to do all she can to see the pub­lic per­cep­tion towards British Agri­cul­ture move in a more pos­i­tive direc­tion. Open Farm Sun­day con­tributes great­ly to this shift in atti­tudes and under­stand­ing, and she loves host­ing OFS events.

Jon has helped and exhib­it­ed at many OFS events in the past, and is pas­sion­ate about pro­mot­ing the indus­try through events such as OFS. Jon is a self-employed crop con­sul­tant, spe­cial­is­ing in ener­gy and for­age crops, as well as being a direc­tor of MB Farm­ing Ltd a con­tract­ing busi­ness in Nor­folk and Suf­folk, and the tech­ni­cal Agron­o­mist for the Maize Grow­ers Association.

Mol­ly strong­ly believes in the impor­tance of com­mu­ni­ca­tion in order to increase acces­si­bil­i­ty and build an under­stand­ing of food, farm­ing and the coun­try­side. She is thrilled to advance this fur­ther through Open Farm Sun­day sup­port­ing host farm­ers and wel­com­ing around 2000 vis­i­tors to Hamp­ton Estate each year for farm­ing’s annu­al open day. Mol­ly is the Hamp­ton Estate’s Nature Based Busi­ness Man­ag­er, an excit­ing appoint­ment lead­ing on regen­er­a­tive agri­cul­ture, envi­ron­men­tal land man­age­ment and nat­ur­al cap­i­tal. She divides her time between Hamp­ton Estate and The Knepp Estate in Sus­sex where she is Head of Nat­ur­al Capital.

Rona Amiss, along with her fam­i­ly run a ten­ant­ed farm on the most Souther­ly point of main­land UK. ​“Being first gen­er­a­tion farm­ers, we have had 3 ten­ant­ed farms and worked in var­i­ous sec­tors includ­ing poul­try, dairy, beef, sheep and arable. We ran our first Open Farm Sun­day event in 2007 and have con­tin­ued most years. Start­ing with small farm walks we now have a fan­tas­tic vil­lage event that attracts over 1200 people.”

Helen is a 7^th gen­er­a­tion farmer! Her broth­er and father farm at Ridge­way Farm, a tra­di­tion­al mixed dairy and arable farm locat­ed just out­side Black­pool, Lan­cashire. Helen and her moth­er hold a num­ber of open farm events through­out the year, the events attract­ a wide range of vis­i­tors, some of whom have been over 30 years old and nev­er been to a farm! This opened the fam­i­ly’s eyes, espe­cial­ly her father’s, as before then he did­n’t believe peo­ple would want to come to, or learn about farms and farm­ing life. Helen is pas­sion­ate about edu­cat­ing the pub­lic and offer­ing the oppor­tu­ni­ty to vis­it a real life work­ing farm, and is more than hap­py to sup­port any­one in their Open Farm Sun­day journey!

Lucy and her hus­band, a sixth-gen­er­a­tion farmer live on a 100ha arable farm in Worces­ter­shire with their two chil­dren. Lucy has a degree in dra­ma, a post­grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tion in sports soci­ol­o­gy and has worked as fundrais­ing man­ag­er for RNLI and BHF. Lucy and her hus­band aspire to tran­si­tion their farm to a regen­er­a­tive sys­tem and opened their farm for Open Farm Sun­day for the first time in 2021.
