Get ready to flex your cre­ative mus­cles because Open Farm Sun­day is launch­ing a com­pe­ti­tion that is sure to ignite your imagination!

We’re call­ing all aspir­ing artists, young and old, to craft a cape which embod­ies the spir­it of our fab­u­lous​‘Guardians of the Earth’ — our hard­work­ing farm­ers! Enter your designs before 5pm on 18^th June 2024, and you could be in with a chance of win­ning a cov­et­ed John Deere toy trac­tor.

Our won­der­ful farm­ers pro­duce our food, fibre and fuel, whilst man­ag­ing the coun­try­side for wildlife to thrive and this com­pe­ti­tion gives you the chance to show­case your knowl­edge and insights into the world of farming.

There are lots of ways to get some inspiration:

• Farm­ing Fort­night, 3^rd-14^th June — run by LEAF Edu­ca­tion, will see hun­dreds of schools take part in a two week spot­light on farm­ing and food pro­duc­tion; delv­ing into the world of farm­ing through engag­ing activ­i­ties and work­sheets on a dif­fer­ent top­ic each day! • Open Farm Sun­day, 9^th June — vis­it a farm with fam­i­ly and friends to dis­cov­er the world of farm­ing. Vis­i­tors will expe­ri­ence and learn from our farm­ers about how food is pro­duced sus­tain­ably, and how they look after the envi­ron­ment and wildlife. From the sig­nif­i­cance of hedgerows and wild­flow­ers to the role of bat box­es and bug hotels, there’s a whole world of agri­cul­tur­al won­ders wait­ing to be explored!

Down­load the com­pe­ti­tion form and unleash your inner artist! Use what­ev­er art mate­ri­als you wish to design the cape on the com­pe­ti­tion entry form and send it to: OFS Cape Com­pe­ti­tion, LEAF, Unit 175, Avenue J, Stoneleigh Park, War­wick­shire CV8 2LG. To be in with a chance of win­ning the prize, entries must arrive before 5pm on Tues­day 18^th June 2024. Remem­ber to include with your entry your name, date of birth (if under 18 years old), con­tact details (give details of your parent/​guardian if under 18 years). Entries will be judged by the Open Farm Sun­day team at LEAF. No alter­na­tive prize will be given.
