Man­aged nation­al­ly by LEAF (Link­ing Envi­ron­ment And Farm­ing), this much-loved nation­al ini­tia­tive con­nects farm­ers and the pub­lic in a unique cel­e­bra­tion of food, farm­ing and nature. By wel­com­ing the pub­lic onto farms and show­cas­ing the jour­ney of food from farm to table, Open Farm Sun­day helps con­sumers to build a deep­er appre­ci­a­tion for where their food comes from, and impor­tant­ly the farm­ers who pro­duce it.

As well as being a bril­liant fam­i­ly day out, events offer a great oppor­tu­ni­ty to see how farm­ers are farm­ing with nature; and gives every­one the chance to meet their local farmer, hear their sto­ries, and see first-hand what they are doing for the cli­mate, nature and sus­tain­able food pro­duc­tion – fos­ter­ing con­nec­tions that are both edu­ca­tion­al and fun. 

Each par­tic­i­pat­ing farm offers some­thing dif­fer­ent — from trac­tor and trail­er rides and ani­mal encoun­ters to guid­ed tours of fields buzzing with wildlife. Open Farm Sun­day is open to all types of farms, some of those par­tic­i­pat­ing will be LEAF Mar­que cer­ti­fied, demon­strat­ing their com­mit­ment to farm­ing prac­tices that sup­port nature and the envi­ron­ment while pro­duc­ing food respon­si­bly.
